SAFEGUARDING

Keeping Children, Young People and Adults Safe

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility. At Agape Family Kingdom, we are committed to creating a safe, caring and respectful environment where children, young people and adults can worship, learn, grow and serve with confidence.

Promoting a Safe Church for Everyone

We believe that every individual has the right to be treated with dignity, respect and compassion. Safeguarding is central to our Christian values and reflects our commitment to protecting those who may be vulnerable.

We are committed to maintaining a culture where concerns are taken seriously, acted upon appropriately and managed with care, integrity and confidentiality.

Safeguarding in Practice

Our safeguarding approach is guided by biblical values, compassion and good governance. These principles shape the way we care for children, young people and adults who engage with the life of Agape Family Kingdom.

Safeguarding Is Everyone's Responsibility

Creating and maintaining a safe church requires the commitment of everyone involved in the life of Agape Family Kingdom. Leaders, volunteers, members and visitors all have a role in promoting a culture of safety, respect and accountability.

We encourage every person serving within the church to remain vigilant, act responsibly and report any safeguarding concerns promptly through the appropriate procedures.

Church Leaders

Provide leadership, oversight and ensure safeguarding responsibilities are taken seriously throughout the church.

Volunteers

Serve responsibly, follow safeguarding procedures and maintain appropriate conduct at all times.

Church Members

Help create a welcoming, respectful and safe environment by supporting good safeguarding practices.

Visitors

We want every visitor to feel safe, respected and supported whenever they participate in our activities.

Speaking Up

We encourage anyone who has a safeguarding concern to speak up without delay. Every concern will be taken seriously, handled sensitively and considered in accordance with our safeguarding procedures.

Wherever reasonably possible, information will be treated confidentially. However, confidentiality cannot be guaranteed where there is a risk of harm or where disclosure is required by law to protect children, young people or adults at risk.

Where appropriate, concerns may be referred to the relevant statutory authorities to ensure the safety and wellbeing of those involved.

Appointing People Responsibly

Agape Family Kingdom seeks to recruit leaders and volunteers responsibly, recognising the importance of safeguarding in every area of church life.

Where appropriate, recruitment procedures may include interviews, references, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, safeguarding declarations and induction processes, depending on the nature of the role.

These measures help us create a safe environment while supporting responsible leadership and good governance.

Learning and Continuous Improvement

We believe that safeguarding is strengthened through ongoing learning, awareness and good practice.

Leaders and volunteers are encouraged to undertake safeguarding training appropriate to their responsibilities and to remain informed about current guidance and best practice.

We are committed to regularly reviewing our safeguarding arrangements so that they continue to reflect legal requirements, recognised guidance and the needs of our church community.

Keeping This Policy Up to Date

This safeguarding policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure that it reflects current legislation, recognised good practice and the ongoing development of Agape Family Kingdom.

We are committed to continually strengthening our safeguarding culture through regular review, learning and responsible leadership.
